Into The Mind: Kos' Holiday 2015 wish list

Happy Monday peeps!

It's 12 more days will Christmas! I am getting into the spirit OD'ing on Gingerbread Lattes, Xmas music and planning holiday dinners with dear friends.  Also signed up to do volunteer work! Tis the season :)

I have been super duper NICE this year! And my list reflects that ha ha!  M Train by Patti Smith is fantastic! I have the book on my Ipad now I want the hard copy, it's a must to have for anyone who is a fan of her's!  The bat eye mask: I need sleep, bottom line. Working harder at unplugging early evening to get a good night's sleep.  Serpent earrings from Catbird: Love snake jewelry + Catbird in Williamsburg.  Catbird is one of the best jewelry stores in the city!  Burberry nail polish: when I do get my nails done, I go for monochromatic colors. Tis the season as I said, why not step it up with the oxblood color!

Behind-the-scenes spectacular of 2OO1: Space Odyssey: excellent movie, set the bar for movies in the scifi genre. Vianel's lizard skin Iphone case is 100% leather but also the comes with free personalization in gold foil stamping.   Black Leather gloves and a classic beret is my winter uniform.. if it ever becomes winter in NYC (the weather has been frightfully warm). Adding a emoji bag to my future all black everything ensembles keeps me young at heart.  Finally, January is going to be a busy month for me professionally, I wear heels for hours at a time as it is. Having a pair of fashionable foldable flats from shoe veteran Yosi Samara will bring more comfort to my feet.

Changes

Hello Peeps

6a859fabde079d0b08c8cf4b22538314.jpg

I have been pretty busy with work and school that blogging took a major back seat. I actually am trying to figure out how to redo the blog. Yes, it will be about fashion and geekery, but the past few months have been game changing for me. I've started new things...ended a few things/relationships. Basically clearing out dead weight.

In the midst of this, the purpose of my blog kind of got lost, hence the hiatus. I don't want to put content that I don't believe in, it's not fair to my readers or myself.

Looking back, I think really started my blog for attention and approval. Yes of course all bloggers in some way that is why they do it. But I think I needed validation that what I did and wore was "great" from the outside world. I find myself even taking less selfies, I look great but more importantly I feel great on the inside :) I have come to the realization have grown in the past year that I no longer need the validation (go me!) that my blog once gave me. I still love fashion and shooting don't get me wrong but there isn't a need to rush to do an outfit post when there are other things taking up my time.

To revamp the blog am going to try a few things over the next few weeks (short story coming in a few). I am going to experiment a lot, so bear with me on this new journey.

Hope everyone is having a great December so far!

NYFW Day 2: CHROMAT + JAY GODFREY

What is great about NYFW in recent years are the brands that are willing to take a risk and do something different.  Two brands that have stood out so far are CHROMAT and JAY GODFREY.

CHROMAT had their SS16 show at Milk Studios, a proper for as their inspiration for the 2016 woman is to "empower the body" by using intelligence capabilities to monitor performance through clothes. A dress that stood out to me was the Adrenaline Dress. The dress is powered by Intel and is made up of 3D printed panels and expandable carbon fiber framework.  When the dress senses adrenaline, the framework extends into a large wing shape. So cray! Totally something from a Tim Burton Batman Movie!

The show also featured two curvy models, highlighting diversity that is a long standing argument in the fashion industry. It's refreshing to see this, as we are flooded with Instagram posts of Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner on the runways.

Jay Godfrey's Spring 2016 is inspired by the work of the late interior designer and architect David Collins. Godfrey's designs highlight David Collins' use of simplicity and architectural lines. Keeping to his inspiration of the New York woman in mind, Godfrey melds the classic tailoring techniques of Savile Row with modern silhouettes and luxurious fabrics. The monochromatic collection paid tribute to Collins' work by using different shades of white, ivory, alabaster and cream.

The runways have been screaming out "POP of COLOR", Godfrey stuck to his design principal and what the actual NYC woman wears in the spring.  He could have swam where the fish were swimming, he didn't. Rock on Jay!
