All Wrapped Up

You can count on Diane von Fürstenberg (aka DVF to us fashion gals) to have a killer, fun, and sexy dress that one can rock for work and play!  I remember my sister Katika rocking her dresses when I was a kid (DVF's dresses are timeless so she still does to this day) and my brother in law teasing her about her ever growing collection!

Spring is just around the corner, and I am finding myself stocking up on dresses like this... They are SO not average.  Diane von Fürstenberg is the best in the game for over 40 years making dresses in fun proportions and wearable prints.  Check out more of the beloved designer here.

NYC (of course) is in a weird transitional weather phase. I tend to wear this leopard coat A LOT and couldn't resist mixing prints on my way to a client meeting!

My spring plans involve the following: celebrating my completion of grad school, starting Hunter Haute Issue 3, heading to more Brooklyn warehouse shows to hear some rad music, traveling to a regional comic con or two, and A LOT of Sunday brunches!  The past year and a half, most my Sunday's were shot because of school.... so a lot of Bellini's and Bloody Mary's are will make up for that REAL soon!

Who else is excited for Spring? Any rad plans? Do tell!

Coffee Made Me Do It

I have had a DEEP love for coffee ever since I was 17-years-old.  It started summer of 2001 and the search for a part time job was on and I ended up getting a gig at Starbucks near Rockefeller Center. It was rad, blocks away from school, all the coffee I can drink, and a deep discount to match.

Fast forward to 2017, nothing has changed...I still love coffee more than ever. So when my friend Candy launched her tee shirt line that had  a cute coffee pun, I had to support.

Thankfully, the Meatpacking District has coffee shops at every other corner.  While I still love my Starbucks, I do enjoy an intimate coffee shop as much as the next gal.  The sounds and smell of an old fashion espresso machine just feel like home.

I'm a tee shirt/sweatshirt fanatic there's never enough in my closet! If you are looking for some inspiration head over to 1214 By. Candy Washington.  There are now coffee mugs on the site!

This post was done thanks to a big cup of coffee!  Shouts to coffee!!

Loveday 31: The Intimate Shopping Experience

A few weekends ago, Vickie and I went vintage shopping, not at our usual spots but in Astoria, Queens at Loveday 31 Vintage.

Walking in your greeted with the sweet mix of 90s hip-hop and 70s disco. After the music, the next thing that hits you, are vibrant colors of the shop. Color abounds at Loveday 31 Vintage, and not only on the racks but also on the painted walls. This shop has a 20th century modern feel, sans framed photos of 60s era luminaries.

Ivona Bilicic, the owner of Loveday 31 used to be a buyer for acclaimed NoHo thrift shop: Screaming Mimi’s, so she knows her stuff.  She finds all the pieces herself and doesn’t stock anything newer than about 1990, with the exception of some accessories by local artists.  Everything is in absolutely perfect condition, and the prices can’t be beat. Unlike other stores that claim they are vintage where they are just recycling clothes donated from customers.

Purses and clutches are displayed on shelves. This shelf makes me think of that scene in The September Issue where the camera pedestals up the shelf showing all the purses and shoes. You know, the scene that made you drool?

I came into Loveday, this time aiming to get a few accessories; I did achieve my goal in these rad gold frames.  They kind of remind me of something Michelle Pfeiffer’s character in Scarface would wear.  The frames are a perfect addition to any piece of outerwear (hint on upcoming #ootd post this week!)

This black and white cardigan tho! I am a cardigan fanatic! A skinny jean, sexy tank, cardigan and boots are my weekend uniform. What I love about this cozy cardigan, I can also wear it with a black or grey shift dress for work :)

Vickie rocked a few shades and scored vintage rings. Check out her post on Loveday 31 from a real estate perspective at Gousse Guidebook for Real Estate.

If you are looking to venture out for vintage, I strongly recommend Loveday 31 for an intimate shopping experience.  What better way to treat yourself then to curated vintage?

Loveday 31 is located at 33-06 31st Avenue in Astoria, Queens.
