“Today, just take time to smell the roses, enjoy those little things about your life, your family, spouse, friends, job. Forget about the thorns -the pains and problems they cause you - and enjoy life”
― Bernard Kelvin Clive, Your Dreams Will Not Die

This quote resonated with me, earlier this summer I was focusing so much on work that I didn't take the time out to smell the roses. It left me cranky and sweaty (well because it's summer and it's hot af outside)

I'm using this last month of summer and beyond that to take time to smell the roses. Started a few weeks ago :) It's been a blast!  During that time I have been Instagramming like a madwoman being out and about at Milk Studios, catching a few shows, attending Pottercon and snagging some rad gear for an upcoming post!

Devoting more time into fun helped me balance my work/school life. I wanted to share a few of those tips I learned over the past few months:

1. Focusing on what's important for that day: I'm a publicist we are always 4-6 months ahead of everyone. I learned to stay in the present.

2. Delegate, Delegate, Delegate: I realized I had the tendency of doing everything myself, then getting impatient about doing everything...it was self inflicted behavior.  I'm honest and realistic with my time, using my resources at work for help getting a release out or proofreading a memo. The quality of my work is more elevated because of it.

3. Sleep: Shutting it down at a decent hour to unwind and head to sleep.  As a result, I'm waking up much earlier, working out and doing work earlier, which means more time for fun!

4. Stop talking about being busy and do it: No one cares! I realized if I was so busy then I wouldn't be posting about it and then posting a funny meme a friend sent me.

I'm stoked for the remaining part of the summer and the arrival of fall: Pumpkin Spiced Lattes, Football, NY Comic Con, and How to get with Murder Season 3.  I'm taking these helpful tips with me to make the time for them ha ha!

How do you guys make time for fun? Any last minute summer plans?

That Dinner Party Tho...

After going back and forth with a few friends of mine, we decided to have a potluck on Easter Eve. I had the pleasure of hosting!  We were supposed to have it months ago but life and just being in our 30’s got in the way (boo hoo).  Good tunes, flip cup, and good times were had!

Every party needs a little inspiration and I got it after seeing this rad ass shot on my dear friend Charlie’s Instagram Feed a few days prior.  The publicist in me treated this get together like an event, looking at every detail: ironing the fabric napkins, asking my friend’s if they needed anything, confirming the menu. You name it I did it:

This cherry tomato salad is perfect when you have a shit load of cherry tomatoes yet you don't want to use them in a typical salad. I added a little flava to the traditional recipe by adding olive oil, fresh parsley, and fresh basil!Ingredients12 oz…

This cherry tomato salad is perfect when you have a shit load of cherry tomatoes yet you don't want to use them in a typical salad. I added a little flava to the traditional recipe by adding olive oil, fresh parsley, and fresh basil!

Ingredients
12 oz. grape tomatoes
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 teaspoon parsley
1 teaspoon basil
McCormick Basil Leaves
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons white sugar

Directions
In a small bowl or cup measure, mix together oil, apple cider vinegar, herbs, salt, and sugar.

Pour dressing over cherry tomatoes in a serving dish, and gently stir to coat. Chill for at least 2 hours. Gently stir from bottom to top, coating all tomatoes, before serving

My friend's brought eggplant rollatini, baked ziti, shrimp salad, and cheesecake! I made salmon. Everything was so delish we didn't do the obligatory group food shot, we were having too much of a great time.

In between the salmon and dessert we listened to 90s music! Here is the playlist I made via Spotify, oh the nostalgia. I’m talking all the a little cheesy yet good 90s: Nirvana, Snoop Dogg, Backstreet Boys, Monica, Red Hot Chilli Peppers just to name a few! Check it out: 90s/00's POTLUCK PLAYLIST

                                                                      &nbs…

                                                                                                      FLIP CUP ANYONE?

It was a blast gathering my friend’s together singing a few songs, playing all of our favorites watching me sing a few songs! Haha!

Yes, singing is a hidden talent of mine ;) I highly recommend doing intimate gatherings with friend’s, as life can get so cray at times! I can’t wait to do this again :)
