Upgrades....

Ya’ll seen me rock the bomber time again, and I do love the classic look, I recently witnessed the power of throwing on a duster by accident. In an attempt to wear a spaghetti dress to a friend’s shower while combating the rain, I threw on this pink version of the jacket before heading to the party. What started out as just a Hail Mary turned out to be an amazing outfit, I felt amazing!

I actually felt as though I was wearing my own superhero cape guys!

Got the hair did as well, it’s been bugging me how to elevate my look for a while and the folks over at Napp Star hooked it up with a drink, updated dye job, and this unique side braid.

While it didn’t feel like spring, I wanted to have a natural glow, Glam by V didn’t disappoint. I’m usually very “safe” when it comes to hair and make up it was rad to let the legit professionals play around with my look. It’s another way for me to learn how to let go and stop overthinking and do it!  :)

Planning more outfit posts for the spring, well given Mother Nature it will probably go straight to summer ha ha! It’s great to be blogging again!

Anyone else did a major update to their look recently? Do tell!

Da Bomb Diggity

Yes currently it's really cold in NYC but given global warming (I tend to mention that in style posts a lot) I have learned to combine seasonless silhouettes together.  The bomber jacket is the right way to cover up in style whether it's 56 or 26 degrees.  I remember borrowing my older brother's bomber jacket in junior high school when I was in my super tomboy phase, add in gap overalls, timberlands, the infamous purple jansport book bag and I thought I was the bomb (cause I was!). Mid 90s in NYC the THING was to have a bomber jacket and it had to be from an Army/Navy store for additional street cred (legit ask any New Yorker who grew up mid-90s)

In 2017, I pair the bomber with a LBD (Little Black Dress) and red pumps, prefect for a night out.  Since it is cold right now...and I want to keep this realistic af haha. So if it was cold I would  pair this jacket with a turtleneck midi dress and sheer stockings.

The bomber jacket just adds a bit of a tomboyish touch to any look, given how hard it can be to look fashionable in the winter time (as it is important to keep warm) it's rad to see brands take the bomber jacket to the next level. Check out my winter pics below!

No matter your overall style, you can accentuate your aesthetic and prepare yourself for colder days with one of the bomber jacket options above. If you want to read more about the bomber jacket check out this HYPEBEAST article explaining the history, they totally nailed it!

Stay chic and warm y'all!

Don't Call It a Comeback

There is a big DIY mindset happening…..  I’ve been noticing them worn in my neighborhood, at coffee shops, on the street, via social media, at fashion shows and comic cons  —   ENAMEL PINS

Enamel Pins, have become one of the most popular forms of self-expression.   Collecting enamel pins has grown from a hobby into a major cultural trend, and I am here for it!   It’s another way to express who you are online and off!  These pins are tradable, inexpensive to produce (for artists looking for a way to test drive their art) and purchase. Most new pins can be divided up into a few easily identified categories: punk-inspired, artist-produced, activism inspired, emoji galore, Rick and Morty characters, and pizza. There is a REALLY pin for everyone!

What I dig more about enamel pins is that it's bringing such an old fashioned activity as "collecting" fun again.  The only memory I have collecting anything besides comics were trading cards. The pins I discovered in this post were because of an Instagram post I saw, how rad is that?! Folks can discover a pin on an IG post, collect, then trade with their friend's (brining face to face interaction).

Given the NYC weather is heading to the teen digits soon, I am personally using the pins to add a little extra umph to my outerwear! How else will people know that I love fashion and comics if they don't see my IG? Ha ha!
