Are you as excited for the premiere of Marvel's Agent Carter as I am!? The new show premiering tonight can change the game for Marvel, Women, and TV in general. Yes there are great female role models on TV: Daenerys Targaryen, Olivia Pope (depending on which season of Scandal), and Olivia Benson, but the more the merrier! The teasers for Marvel's Agent Carter appeal to the female audience whether or not they are fans of the Captain America comic or not. A good story and a great female lead is all you need to grab my attention nowadays.

With the over-saturation of female reality stars that are half naked wearing Christian Louboutin shoes the young female audience doesn’t really have great female role models. The few I mention were under 5, where there are dozens of female reality TV stars. I have high hopes for Marvel's Agent Carter as I am a fan of Peggy Carter in the Marvel Universe films. I predict another win for Marvel bringing more female fans as they created graphic novels for Revenge, developed female Thor, and created an Instagram devoted to fangirls style. Another great highlight, Hayley Atwell is the first woman to headline a Marvel film or TV series solo. If that isn’t progress for chicks, I don’t know what is!

When I heard Marvel was going to make a BIG announcement on ABC's The View today, I actually scratched my head why? Until.... I heard the big news:

Marvel is making the beloved hammer character Thor a woman! Yes a woman! It made perfect sense that Marvel used ABC's "The View" to make the announcement.

The inscription on Thor’s hammer reads ‘Whosoever holds this hammer, if HE be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.’ Well it’s time to update that inscription," said Marvel editor Wil Moss in a statement. "The new Thor continues Marvel’s proud tradition of strong female characters like Captain Marvel, Storm, Black Widow and more. And this new Thor isn’t a temporary female substitute – she’s now the one and only Thor, and she is worthy!"

To be clear She-Thor. This is not Lady Thor. This is not Thorita. This is THOR.

Thor will be Marvel’s eighth comic featuring a female in its leading role, which the publisher says “aims to speak directly to an audience that long was not the target for Super Hero comic BOOKS in America: women and girls.”

I think this is a great idea to get more women and girls to read comic books. A practice that was so taboo 10-15 years ago is now becoming mainstream with Comic Book conventions, comic inspired fashions in fashion snows, and the popularity of cosplay!

Rock on new Thor! Iron Man watch your back? With an name like Tony Stark it can easily be changed to Toni Stark, ha!
