Staying organized with the Cosplayer App!

Hello peeps!

NY Comic Con is 2 months away! I decided to be more organized this year thanks to my fellow cosplayer slash niece Akua.  Akua gets really into her Cosplay doing great mashups: Darth Vader as a Slytherin student is my personal fav:

Akua as Darth Vader/Slytherin Student, Kimani as Nick Fury, Me as Catwoman, and Dane as The Joker

Akua introduced me to a brilliant app to make our Cosplaying lives earlier: Cosplanner.  Yes, the app basically keeps you organized in what you need to make, purchase, inspiration pages and even helps you stay on budget.

This level of organization regarding your Cosplay will make the most extreme cosplayer dance in delight. You can access and share a summary page at any point, which is going to have all the stats written out. Upon completion of each costume, you will be given the option of adding any photo shoots done, events attended and prizes won as well as all photos of your Cosplay. The app is available to download for free on both the App Store and Google Play.  I used mine on an iPhone, getting my Harley Quinn Cosplay started:

The reference images section is extremely useful.  Think about it not having to go through your entire camera roll to check the design or size when buying things! Again this app is brilliant!   The summary page shows progress percentage, the amount of time spent working and total cost of your Cosplay.

Now when you hit that “Finalize” button (another great feature is that it will only allow you to do so if the progress is 100%). The app will congratulate you on completing your Cosplay and let you add events like conventions, contests, and shoots.  The app is very user friendly; I’m stunned it’s actually free. The free version limits you to a mere 20 Cosplay elements, 5 reference images, and 5 final images.

May the 4th be with you & your Ugg boots too

Hey guys!

If you are living under a rock, many have seen the newest Star Wars trailer online or before Avengers Age of Ultron.  How rad was it!? December 18th is seven months away and Star Wars fever is already upon us!

May 4th is Star Wars Day also my niece Akua's birthday.  She is a Star Wars fanatic hence the name of her blog "A Stylish Jedi".  Happy Birthday Qui! To celebrate Star Wars day, UGG announced a series of limited edition Star Wars designs being sold TODAY! Yeah boy boots for the whole family!

The collection is on sale for $100 to $225, it features eight styles inspired by Darth Vader. Each design, has a signature red symbol from the films associated with the Empire and the Dark Side and will be available at select stores.  The styles also feature a custom tag featuring Star Wars quotes, storyboard tissue-paper packaging and a special-edition box.

Not digging Darth Vader designs? UGG has you covered later in the year with more additions. Hmm wonder who it would be? R2-D2 perhaps? I'm thinking it will be C-3P0, gold and the holiday season always go hand and hand!

It's Morphin' Time!

Hey guys!

We had a lot of "breaking the internet" moments this week: #dressgate, Zendaya's eloquent statement to E! news anchor Guiliana Rancic's inappropriate comments about her locs, the series finale of How to Get Away with Murder. But something else top ALL of that this wee when a short-gritty fan made film of the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers debuted online. The beloved childhood classic is a favorite of mine as it came on before Batman The Animated Series. Those were the good old days, after school entertainment.

The film stars are fan favorites: Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff as Kimberly the pink ranger, and Dawson's Creek James Van Der Beek as Rocky. I won't post up any spoilers and let the video (now back on YouTube) do the talking:

I loved the new take on the classic, it makes sense a lot of the original fans are in their late 20s early 30s. I saw it more as a tribute to the show then trying to create trouble as reports mentioned earlier in the week.  I mean there's an audience for this, just like there was a 1960s Batman to Nolan's Batman.  However, I did miss Zordon and Alpha.

Also back in the day I remember Saban entertainment (the people behind the Power Ranger's franchise) in hot water as many accused them of stealing the concept of the story from 1980s classic Voltron. See the similarities?

Original Pink Ranger, Amy Jo Johnson tweeted her thoughts, I was happy to see it was positive. Hooray!

It's ironic they were at first in an uproar about this, but happy to see they created a compromise with Andi Shankar and director Joseph Kahn.  I think the film also lit a fire under Saban's butt to get their act together for their live action version of the film that is supposed to be released in 2016.  The short film is not for kids but that is what makes it so great, I mean with fan fiction, conventions with fans talking about "what ever happened to so and so" this film answers a few of them.

That's my two cents on the matter, the 90s are back guys! Can't wait to see what else from the decade makes a comeback next..ahh nostalgia!
